Barbara Jean Schmidt, 89, of Staunton, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024. She was born July 19, 1935 in Erin, Tenn. She married Noah E. Schmidt in 1951 and they had six children, Lynn, Jeff, Dan, Kim, Tim, and Desiree. She was preceded her in death by her husband Noah in 1993.
Rosella and Noah moved to Staunton in 1968. She had several different jobs over the years and loved to paint. She could paint about anything that she could get her brush on. There are many paintings of wildlife and old home settings in the area that she did for several people. She was always laughing and telling stories to all the grandchildren as well as to anyone else that would listen. She loved the laughter and good times from banter with her minister.
She is survived by a brother, Douglas (Norma Jean) Gann, Clarksville, Tenn .; four children, Jeff (Toby) Schmidt, Staunton; Kim Bartulis, Staunton; Tim (Sue) Schmidt, Fairbanks, Ala., and Desiree Goodwin, Staunton; daughter-in-law, Debra (late Lynn) Schmidt, Staunton; 19 grandchildren; 24 great- grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her two sons, Lynn and Dan; son-in-law, Gene Bartulis; son-in-law, David Goodwin; daughter-in-law, Carol Schmidt; and grandson, Matt Schmidt.
Visitation Services will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024 at the Williamson Funeral Home located at 108 W. Henry St. in Staunton. On Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024 at 11 a.m., Funeral Services will be held at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton and Pastor John Foster will be officiating.
Interment will follow the Funeral Services held on Thursday, Aug. 15 in Memorial Park Cemetery located in Staunton. Williamson Funeral Home of Staunton is in charge of the arrangements.
