Komanetsky

Steve M. Komanetsky, 70, of Champaign, Ill., died at his residence on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024. He was born May 7, 1954, in Brookings, S.D. the son of the Late Michael Komanetsky and Helen (Mickalites) Komanetsky.

He graduated from Urbana High School with the class of 1972. He then attended Southern Illinois University, and retired in 2016 after being employed at Kraft Foods in Champaign for 40 years.

He is survived by his sister, Ruth Welch, Castleton, Va .; nephews and nieces, Charles Welch, David Welch, Gwendolyn Iaci, Virginia, and Michael Welch, Colorado Springs, Colo .; significant other, Cheri Quimby, Mahomet, Ill .; grandnieces and grandnephews, Adrian Cabrera, Catarina and Cecilia Welch, Eliana, Luca, Dominic, and Tessa Iaci, Kelsey, Caitlyn, and Bailey Welch, Virginia, Emily, Adam, and Meghan Welch, Colorado Springs, Colo.

Visitation and Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024 at Kravanya Funeral Home located in Benld, Ill. Interment followed at Benld Cemetery located in Benld. Kravanya Funeral Home of Benld was in charge of the arrangements.
