The Macoupin County Historical Society will be having their monthly program at the handicap-accessible Ruyle Building located on the Macoupin County Historical Society’s grounds in Carlinville, on Monday, Aug. 5, 2024 at 7 p.m.
The speaker for this month's program is award-winning author, Cheryl Eichar Jett. Her topic will be"From Adventurers to Entrepreneurs: Legendary Women of Illinois Route 66."
From the adventurous Gypsy Coeds to the crusading Mother Jones, as well as the inclusion of amazing stories regarding female theater and ballroom operators. Jett tells the tales of unforgettable women along Illinois' 300-miles of the Historic Route 66 Highway. A slide show of historic photos is set to assist and contain Jett's stories of the women and their unique contributions to the historical culture of Route 66.
This Historical Society program in Carlinville is free and it is open to the public.
