Staunton Senior Citizens Meeting

Senior citizens' meetings are available for all seniors 55 and older to join. They are held on the first and third Thursday of each month at 1 p.m.

President Geri Cook called the Thursday, July 18, 2024 meeting to order. There were 17 people in attendance. To begin, the Lord's Prayer as well as the Pledge of Allegiance were recited and July birthdays were celebrated. Even though only one member held a July birthday, she was able to get a free bingo card for her birthday.

The dearest of sympathy goes out to a recent passing of a member’s family member. A card will be sent to said family.

The lending out of the bingo machine was discussed. The church has used it several times for a church sponsored bingo. There was another organization that wanted to use it but it would have to be transported to another location to use it. The members discussed it and voted unanimously that the church could use it provided it was used and put away properly. The exception is that it can't be taken out of the church to be used elsewhere.

Getting members to help set up for each meeting was discussed. There will be a couple of people committing for a month at a time to help set up. The meeting was adjourned and everyone enjoyed playing bingo. Toni Janus called bingo.

Attendance Prizes went to Joanne Brakhane and Mary Lyons; then Shirley Copeland and Nancy Johns won the pots of silver.

The next meeting of the Staunton senior citizens will be at St. Paul's Christian Church located at 225 S. Laurel St., in Staunton, on Aug. 1, 2024 at 1 p.m.
