Doris J. Thomas, 97, of Staunton, died at the Community Hospital of Staunton on Monday, July 8, 2024. She was born Jan. 12, 1927 in Westervelt, Ill., the daughter of the Late Jessie Skiff and Florence (Martin) Skiff.
She married Gaylord H. Thomas on Jan. 5, 1944 in Wood River and he preceded her in death Sept. 1984.
She was a Postal Clerk at the Worden Post Office and at the Edwardsville Post Office. She was a member of the Staunton VFW Ladies Auxiliary and she was proud to have raised four boys.
She is survived by four sons, Gary L. (Rosemary) Thomas, Edwardsville, Richard A. (Patty) Thomas, Staunton, Scott A. (Linda) Thomas, Staunton, and Bruce D. Thomas, Worden; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by four sisters.
