Stewart

Michael Joe Stewart, 69, of Benld, Ill., passed away at his residence in Benld on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. He was born Feb. 22, 1955 in Staunton, Ill., the son of Jack Stewart and Pauline (Montgomery) Stewart and they preceded him in death. He married Terri Tomso of Benld on Nov. 12, 2000 in Gatlinburg, Tenn., and she survives.

He worked for the railway. He was a lover of his family and friends, his music, cooking and was a man of faith.. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Jo Stewart, Gillespie, Ill .; grandson, Nicholas Joseph Willis, Repentigny, Quebec, Canada; brother, Jim Stewart, Livingston; two sisters, Patti Hicken, Mt. Olive, Bonnie Stewart, Gillespie; mother-in-law, Norma Tomso, Mt. Olive; many nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Dale and Wayne Stewart; step-mom, Lois Stewart; father-in-law, Ted Tomso; and niece, Layla Stewart.

Visitation and Memorial services were held at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie on Monday, July 15, 2024 and Derrick Taylor officiated. Kravanya Funeral Home of Gillespie was in charge of the arrangements.
