Boatman

Anette Boatman, 90, of Riverton, Ill., passed away at her residence on Thursday, July 4, 2024. She was born May 8, 1934, in Germany the daughter of Gustav Drefs. She married Kenneth Boatman on Aug. 10, 1957 in Carlinville and he preceded her in death.

She had worked for Weatherford Nursing Home in Carlinville and she had her own bakery out of her house. Anette was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and the Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her two children, Gene (Velma) Boatman, Sandia, Texas, and Linda Boatman, Riverton; four grandchildren, Nickolas (Shannon) Griffitts, Jodie Jones, Angela (Joshua Edmonds) Griffitts, and Kayla (Travis Hale) Griffitts; six great-grandchildren, Jade (Brandon) Koke, Loveah Edmonds, Aaleah Edmonds, Olive Hale, Jaxson Griffitts, and Madi Griffitts; great-great-grandchild, Flynn Koke; as well as siblings, Erma and Paulina. Anette was preceded in death by her parent, Gustav Drefs; two sons, Robert and Walter Boatman; and one brother.

Visitation services will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., at Zion Lutheran Church in Carlinville and Funeral services will follow at the Zion Lutheran Church. Interment will be held at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery located in Carlinville. Kravanya Funeral Home of Gillespie is in charge of the arrangements.
