Vaughn

Aaron Ellis "Big A" Vaughn, 71, of Springfield, Ill., formerly of Carlinville, Ill., died at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield on Thursday, June 27, 2024. He was born Dec. 29, 1952 in Chicago, Ill., the son of Steve Preston and Mary Taylor and they preceded him in death. He married Margaret Eve Simmons, of Springfield, on July 10, 1978 in Carlinville and she survives.

He was a coal miner for Monterey Coal Co., and he was a member of the UMWA. He enjoyed CB radio, reading, and old cars. Aaron never met a stranger for he loved talking to people.

He is survived by his two children, Steve (Jodi Clark) Vaughn, Girard, and Michael Vaughn, Ft. Myers, Fla .; five grandchildren, Ty Austin Vaughn, Kali Vaughn, Kaine Clark, Nate Clark, and Bryce Clark; four siblings, Ray (Elaine), David (Tammy), Clarence, and Lydia (Douglas). He was preceded in death by his sibling Donald.

Visitation services will be on Monday, July 8 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill and Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be held at the Bunker Hill Cemetery in Bunker Hill. Kravanya Funeral Home of Bunker Hill is in charge of the arrangements.
