Ubben

John Richard Ubben,74, of Staunton, Ill., died on Sunday, June 23, 2024, with his wife, Pamela Traylor at his side. He was the adopted son of John W. Ubben and Margaret (Luker) Ubben.

John had an active life in the entertainment industry, playing and singing in numerous local bands. One of his favorite memories was when he sang the National Anthem before a Cardinal game at Busch Stadium.

He later worked for Haisler Productions, a booking agency for the St.Louis area music scene. He played a big part of managing the entertainment for the St. Louis VP Fair in 1982 and then owned his own booking agency for music, comedy, magic, hypnosis and dance groups for the St. Louis and metro areas.

After moving back to his home area, Staunton, John got involved with Gillespie's Jim Marcacci, the Benld Coliseum Ballroom projects, wrote articles for the local “Buzz” magazine, and he managed several winning County Officials' campaigns.

John is survived by his wife, Pam Traylor; brother-in-law, Todd (Melissa) Traylor; many friends and band brothers also survive.

No public services are currently arranged. Interment will be held at the Staunton City Cemetery located in Staunton. Kravanya Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Anyone wishing to send online condolences may do so at http://www.kravanyafuneral.com.
