Raymond David Stoddard, 93, of Staunton, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Staunton Hospital in Staunton, Ill. Raymond was born on June 23, 1931 in Mt. Olive the son of Dave Stoddard and Florence (Williams) Stoddard. He married Dorothy Ann (Arzig) on Jan. 12, 1952 at the home of Eugene “Jeep” and Delores “Pete” Niehaus.
He attended Mt. Olive High School. Raymond served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Stoddard was a member of the VFW Post 5790 and A.T.A. He was employed as a Pipefitter at Olin Brass Corporation in East Alton, Ill.
He is survived by a daughter, Carol Jean (Daniel “Danny”) Pinkerton; and grandson, Daniel Scott Pinkerton II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Florence Stoddard; wife, Dorothy Ann Stoddard; son, Donald Ray Stoddard; and four brothers, Robert, Russell, Orville and Vernon.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mt. Olive from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. where Pastor James Ritter will officiate and interment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Lunch for friends and family will be served by the Lydia Circle in the Immanuel Lutheran Educational Building immediately following interment.
