Betty Jean Pesavento, 94, of Staunton, passed away peacefully at her residence in Staunton on Friday, June 14, 2024. She was born on June 27, 1929, in St. Louis, Mo. the daughter to William Edward and Viola (Kemper) Looby and they preceded her in death. She married Dominick Leo Pesavento on April 2, 1948, in Chicago, Ill., and he preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 2008. She worked for many years as a waitress and, as anyone can attest, had a great sense of humor. She had a kind word for anyone that knew her. Betty enjoyed scratching off lottery tickets and going to the “boat.” She also loved fishing and called herself “the catfish lady.” Betty was full of love, laughter, and resilience. She is survived by her five children, Donald (Bonnie) Pesavento, Mary (Dale) Johnson, Dominick Pesavento, Dolores (Michael) Peters, and Bill (Carrie) Pesavento; eight grandchildren, Joe (Mindy)Piller, Christine (Francisco)Arreola, Michael (Sarah) Peters, Dominick (Kate) Peters, Kenzie (Wrenna) Pesavento, Karissa (Blaine) Ray, Donald (Sarah)Pesavento, and Victor (Rachel)Pesavento; and nine great-grandchildren. A private service will take place and memorials are suggested to Chapman Cemetery in Mt. Olive. Becker and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
