Matesa

John Edward Matesa, 82, of Sawyerville, Ill., died at Gillespie Health and Rehab Center in Gillespie, Ill., on Sunday, June 16, 2024. He was born April 25, 1942, in Litchfield, Ill., the son of John L. Matesa and Mary (Cebra) Matesa and they preceded him in death.

He was a laborer for the state of Illinois. John was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and he enjoyed listening to all the baseball games on the radio. John was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Dean Matesa.

Visitation and Funeral services were held on Friday, June 21, 2024 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Benld, Ill., and Arthur Roemer officiated. Interment followed the services and was held at Benld Cemetery in Benld. Kravanya Funeral Home of Benld was in charge of the arrangements.
