Loraine E. "Pete" Peterson, 87, of Gillespie, died at Gillespie Health and Rehab Center in Gillespie on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. He was born Nov. 13, 1936, in Belleville, Ill. the son to Charles Peterson and Cordelia (Mueller) Peterson. He married Sharon Kay Peterson on Sept. 8, 1962 in Columbia, Ill. and she preceded him in death on May 18, 2022.

Pete was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a meat packer and a truck driver for Heimos Greenhouse. He enjoyed fishing and watching baseball.

He is survived by his four children, Monica (Bradley) Lemke, Staunton, Darrin "Pete" (Jennifer) Peterson, Gillespie, Greta (Deron) Stein, St. Jacob, Ill., and Shanna Sullivan, St. Louis, Mo .; nine grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; and brother, Charles Peterson, Millstadt, Ill.

Pete was preceded in death by his two grandsons, Eli Peterson and Bentley Beer; and two brothers, Herbert Peterson and Leroy Peterson.
