Elaine Grman, 83, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024. Elaine was born on May 8, 1941 in Fillmore, Ill., to Earl Joseph Spears and Dorothy (Neisler) Spears. She married Nelson Grman on July 1, 1967 in Edwardsville, and he survives.
She attended Fillmore, Ill., grade school, and Hillsboro High School. Elaine worked at Hillsboro Glass before marriage, and then after, as a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed reading, quilting and playing bingo. Elaine was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She is survived by her husband, Nelson; a son, Thomas (Donna) Spears; daughters, Kathy Mrazek, Penny Grman, Karen (Robbie) Bailey, and Beth (Michael) Dufrain; a brother, Thurman (Deanna) Spears; and a sister, Donna (Tim) Wassman; grandchildren, Jennifer (Shane) Kessinger, Casey (Emiley) Best, Joshua (Liz) Rosenthal, Cody (Natalie) Best, Eric (Connor) Yarnik, Scott Yarnik and Drake Dufrain; great grandchildren, Nova Hartsook, Nathaniel Rosenthal, Lauren Kessinger, Aubrey Kessinger, Kasen Kessinger, Myles Best, Mackenzie Rosenthal, and Quinn Yarnik. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Patsy Cerentano and Mary Mirscin; brothers, Dennis Spears, and Ronald Spears; and a grandson, John Rosenthal.
A public graveside service will take place at the Union Miners Cemetery in Mt. Olive, Ill., on Saturday, June 15 at 11 a.m. Following the graveside service a memorial reception will take place at the Mt. Olive VFW for friends and family from noon until 4 p.m.
