Sally Fritzsche (née Pingolt), of Staunton passed away on June 4, 2024 at the age of 68.
Sally was a military brat as a child, born in Texas but living in such locales as Spain, Hawaii, and finally Staunton, Illinois. She grew up alongside siblings John, Joe, Mary, Andy, Eric, Shelia and Arthur. Truly a herd of Pingolts. As a child, she enjoyed time with her siblings as well as Hawaiian rolls with peanut butter.
In her 20's, she met future spouse Dennis Fritzsche of Mt. Olive, wooing him via free burgers at the restaurant where she worked as a server (restaurant will remain unnamed due to probable burger theft). After an appropriate number of burgers, Dennis proposed. One thing led to another and they raised 4 children together in central Illinois.
Sally rowed her own boat in life, accomplishing such tasks as deeming her pug dog, Frodo, the mascot of the retail store where she worked part-time. While in this role, she handed out, 'Frodo bucks' (no cash OR retail value) and planned photo opportunities. She was truly an influencer before her time.
Sally loved children, (especially her grandchildren Lucy, Tinley, Hudson and Penny) playing slot machines, 90s hit song, 'I'm gonna be (500 miles)' by Scottish brother-band, The Proclaimers, and actor Gary Sinise. When she wasn't cooking too much food, you could probably find her reading or watching a variety of murder documentaries or cooking shows.
She is survived by her children, Shaun Dawson, Eric Fritzsche (children: Lucy, Penny), Jennifer Wold (husband Chet Wold, children: Tinley, Hudson), and Casandra Fritzsche (husband Dustin Stoltz, Grand dog: Galileo). She is preceded in death by parents Agnes and Arthur, siblings John, Joe and Mary, pugs: Frodo, Pippin and Rocky, and spouse Dennis Fritzsche. She was pretty cranky that Dennis passed before her.
