Janet Kay Seketa, 74, of Gillespie, passed away at her home on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born in Litchfield on May 27, 1949 the daughter to Joseph G. Reiniesch and Eoeanore J. (Kulenkamp) Reiniesch. Janet married her husband Paul “P.J.” Seketa on Oct. 9, 1999 in Benld and he survives.
She graduated from Gillespie High School with the class of 1967. She worked at United Community Bank, formerly Peoples State Bank, for 32 years. She started her career as a Bank Teller and retired as the Branch Manager of the Gillespie location. She was a member of Town and Country HCE, formerly Home Extension Gillespie Night Unit, for many years, and she was a member of the Croation Fraternal Union Benld 217. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and she played in a local Pinochle Club with her friends for over 30 years.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Ann (Kelley) Hatlee, Gillespie; sister, Ruth Ann (Thomas) Garbin, Sawyerville; four grandchildren, Marshall Hatlee, Chicago, Megan Hatlee, Luke Hatlee, and Levi Hatlee, all of Gillespie; sister-in-law, Peggy Reiniesch, Gillespie; mother-in-law, Patricia Seketa, Benld; brother-in-law, John Seketa, Clemson, S.C.; her friend, Anne Gansz, Carlinville; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, David and Connie Reiniesch; brother, Michael Reiniesch; and nephew, Charles “ Chuckie” Reiniesch.
A celebration of life service was held at the altar at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Gillespie on May 18. Kravanya Funeral Home of Gillespie was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Partnership for Educational Excellence or the Gillespie Public Library.
