Pieper

Gary G. Pieper, 72, of Staunton, Ill., passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024 at his residence in Staunton. He was born April 5, 1952, the son of the late Lawrence (Babe) and Dorothy (Dot) (Hesi) Pieper. He was first married to Jane Ellen Murphy, then later married to Rhonda Marie Koval, both marriages ended in divorce.

Gary worked as a Lineman for Norfolk and Western Railroad for several years. He then worked as a Roadie for The Grateful Dead for several years, and later owned his own painting business. He was an avid gardener, outdoorsman, fisherman, and he loved to cook. Gary was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Staunton.

He is survived by one daughter, Jenifer L. (George) Markulakis from Litchfield; three sons, Matthew Jon (Anya Chase) Pieper of Beaufort, S.C., Neil Alexander Pieper of St. Louis, Mo., and Gram Pieper of St. Louis, Mo .; four grandchildren, Charles Alex Horn, Brandon White, Jenna White, and Aailyah; four great grandchildren, Leighton, Charlie, Diana, and Paisley; two brothers - Richard (Tonya) Pieper of Staunton, Ill., and Terry (Dawn) Pieper of Southport, N.C .; several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Laurie Pieper.
