Volunteers Are Needed For Staunton's Tour de Donut

The community of Staunton has received, and hopefully will continue to receive, a love of very good publicity thanks to an annual Tour de Donut bicycle race. But an event such as this does not run automatically by itself – it needs the very real support of local volunteers. Past races have drawn over 1,000 participants.

This years race is scheduled for Saturday, July 13, at 9 a.m.

Sullivan Drugs in Staunton is still looking for people willing to donate some time for this event. Hopefully, Staunton will respond the way they always have and get involved to make this another successful year and fun for everyone.

Volunteers are needed on race day morning at the park to assist with sign-ins. They are also needed during the race and will be stationed at locations to help riders with directions and also to control any traffic in the area.

Call Sullivan’s at 618-635-2595 and let them know you are willing to help.

For those who want to ride in the annual race, registration is now open and must be done online on at http://www.bikereg.com/tour-de-donut. The registration deadline is July 12, at 9 a.m. There will be no race day registration. Registration fees for the 34 mile ride are $40 for single bike rider and $50 for tandem riders. There is a shorter ride option, the All Donut Hole Short Course, it is 12 miles and registration fee is $25 for a single bike rider. All event informaiton can be found online at http://www.tourdedonut.org.
