Court

Scott L. Kraut, (51), of Belleville, committed two counts of Class two felonies for aggravated DUI resulting in a motor vehicle accident that was the proximate cause of death of another victim on April 5, 2024. Said defendant drove a white, 2019 Dodge Ram pickup truck on Ill. Route 267 near FS Road in Medora while under the unlawful consumption of methamphetamine. The defendant faces 3-14 years of incarceration for each count.

Denzel L. Woods, (32), of Springfield, committed the Class four felony of knowingly and unlawfully possessing a controlled substance containing Psilocybin on Feb. 10, 2024.

Jeremiah D. Collier, (21), of Springfield, committed the Class four felony for knowingly possessing more than 100 but less than 500 grams of cannabis or a substance containing cannabis on Feb. 5, 2024.

Simone R. Para, (50), of Girard, committed the Class two felony of aggravated battery to a peace officer on May 7, 2024. Said defendant knowingly punched a peace officer of the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department in the face while said officer was engaged in the execution of his official duties.

Jacob A. Devries, (28), of Carlinville, faces two counts for crimes committed on May 8, 2024: Count one is a Class two felony offense for aggravated domestic battery by strangulation, in that said defendant wrapped his arm around his girlfriend’s throat, applied pressure, and impeded her normal breathing; count two is for domestic battery with bodily harm, in that said defendant put his arm around his girlfriend’s neck and squeezed, causing marks under jawline.

Britteny D. M. Herr, (30), of Brighton, faces two counts for crimes committed on May 9, 2024: Count one is a Class four felony for knowingly resisting arrest from a peace officer engaged in the execution of his official duties. Said defendant caused injury to said officer while struggling and attempting to stop the process of being placed in handcuffs; count two is for the offense of knowingly violating an order of protection by being at the protected location after having been served with notice of said order of protection in Macoupin County.

Brayden M. Hydron, (26), of Livingston, committed two counts of criminal trespass to land on May 5, 2024, in that said defendant entered upon the land of another after having received prior notice that such entry was forbidden by the property owner and the owner’s agent.

Cory F. Stoops, (33), of Bunker Hill, knowingly committed criminal damage to an automotive window without the owner’s permission with the damage not being in excess of $500.

DUI

Charles K. Kovach, (36), of Godfrey, was ticketed for two counts of driving a blue, 2018 Nissan passenger car on Interstate 55 near Mt. Olive Township while under the influence of alcohol and for having a BAC of .08 or more at 12:08 a.m. on May 5, 2024.
