Bruno and Elsie Guarienti announced plans to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 6.

A daughter was born to Brian and Gayle Sherfy of Staunton on May 4.

Bella Slifka (85) of Staunton died May 10 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Staunton.

Josephine J. Albertini (86) of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Eagerville, died May 12 at Sunbelt Sub Acute Center in Orlando.

Robin William Brown (52) of Lake Ka-Ho, Mt. Olive, died May 15 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Goldie F. Baugh (92) of Gillespie died May 14 at Heritage Manor in Gillespie.

Construction of the new all-weather track began with the demolition of the refreshment stand, greenhouse, and shed and the removal of the old cinder track.

Gillespie was hit by a tornado causing a lot of damage in the business district, at the school, and all around town.
