Sievers Jr.

Edwin W. “Sonny” Sievers Jr. of Worden, Ill., passed away at his residence in Worden on Saturday, May 11, 2024. He was born April 28, 1933 in New Douglas to the late Edwin W. Sievers Sr. and Esther Sievers. He married Carmen (Oehler) Sievers on June 23, 1957 at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton and she survives.

He served in the U.S. Army. Sonny worked as a farmer on the family farm for many years. He loved his family more than anything.

He is survived by his three children, Nadine Sievers, Litchfield, Denise (Keith) Buschmann, Staunton, and Kevin (Mary) Sievers, Gillespie; five grandchildren, Jeremy Engelke, Staunton, Jenny (Jason) Overby, Staunton, Justin Engelke, Staunton, Nick Sievers, Edwardsville, and Colin Sievers, Worden; three great-grandchildren; two siblings, Melvin (Lucille) Sievers, Staunton, and Velma (Don) Granda, New Douglas; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Joshua McCrady and Brittney Sievers.

Visitation services will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton. Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton with Pastor Philip Girardin officiating. Interment will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Hamel.

Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church, Men’s Club, or to St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Hamel. Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton is in charge of arrangements.
