On Sunday, May 19, 2024, Staunton's Sportsman Kid's Club will be hosting its infamous Fishing Derby at Staunton's Sportsman Club.
This will be the events Thirty-eighth Annual Fishing Derby to occur at Staunton's Sportsman's Club. Registration will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 19 and there will also be free lunch and refreshments.
The derby is for kids between the ages of PreK to Eighth grade and there will be five divisions. PreK as well as First through Second grade will fish from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. In addition, Third through Eighth grades will fish from 1-3 p.m. Due to the age of the contestants, adult supervision is required.
An important rule for the derby is that only live bait may be used. The use of artificial lures is forbidden in Staunton's Kid's Club Fishing Derby. The following trophies will be handed out amongst each class of age: Biggest Bass; Biggest Catfish; Biggest Panfish; and Most Fish.
