Eugene A. “Gene” Bentrup, 86, of Staunton, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024. Gene was born on March 15, 1938 in Staunton to Louis and Ella (Heigert) Bentrup and they preceded him in death. Gene married Shirley on June 9, 1962 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livingston and she survives.
Gene served in the U.S. Army and was a Grains Inspector for Toberman Grain and Feed Company in East St. Louis, Ill. He enjoyed gardening, mowing grass, shopping with his wife, traveling with the Goldenaires Club, bowling, and table games.
He was survived by many cousins, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, (in infancy), Otto Bentrup.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Funeral services will follow on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston. Services will be officiated by Rev. Thomas Hagstorm. Lesicko Funeral Home of Livingston is in charge of the arrangements.
