City Clerk's Office closed for Good Friday

During Monday night’s city council meeting, City Clerk Dennis Steigemeier announced that the City Clerk’s Office will be closed on Friday, March 29 in observance of the Good Friday holiday. All public works employees, except one water treatment plant employee will be off that day as well.

In Park and Civic Improvement, the city council agreed to pay Invoices to White Sanitation, Inc. for dumpster service for debris removal at property located at 317 East 5th Street with the total cost for all four invoices being $5,676.35.

In Streets and Sewer, the city council voted to purchase a new hand held concrete saw at a cost not to exceed $2,300. This would allow for the purchase of the saw at $1,880 plus the cost of extra cutting blades.

In Judiciary, the First reading was given for Ordinance #2234 a Charity Roadblock by the Lions Club to conduct their Annual Tootsie Pop Day Sale Drive at the intersection of Main Street and Route 4 and Main Street and Union Street.

The city council waived the First reading and approved Ordinance #2235 which amends the Personnel Code for the city of Staunton regarding vacation leave.

The first reading was given for First reading of Ordinance #2236 approving the Zoning Hearing granting a Zoning Variance for real property located at 302 Panhorst Street, Staunton, Illinois.

Those present for the meeting were City Clerk Dennis Stiegemeier, City Treasurer Cindy Pirok, Police Chief Jeff Doerr, Public Works Director Mike Kuethe, Aldermen Ryan Machota, David Manning, David Dias, Terry Tipler, Kristy Berg, and Matthew McKee. City Attorney Phil Lading attended electronically. Mayor Craig Neuhaus was absent.

The next city council meeting will be on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 7 p.m.
