Nicholas William Novosel, 61, of Mt. Olive, passed away at Hillsboro Area Hospital in Hillsboro on Monday, March 11, 2024.
Nick was born on Oct. 1, 1962 in Madison, Ill. to late Nicholas Novosel and Dorothy May (Pospieshel) Novosel and they preceded him in death. Nick married Rushelle Lou Allen at Holy Trinity Church in Mt. Olive. She survives.
He attended high school in Granite City. He was employed in metal manufacturing and as a lab tech. Nick was an active member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church as a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Nick is survived by his son, Robert Hawes; a daughter, Romeshelle Bell; five grandchildren, Jessalyn Wolf, Meggan Slaughter, Cheyanne Baxter, Alexandria Bell and Michaela Bell; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda (Randy) Brown; a nephew, Aaron Roberson; an aunt, Eve (Tony) Martin; and a cousin, Brad Martin.
Visitation took place on Friday, March 15, 2024 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Mt. Olive. Reverend Thomas Hagstrom officiated and interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Mt. Olive. Lunch for family and friends will take place immediately following interment at St John Paul II Catholic Church Hall. Becker and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
