Duty

Lloyd Duty, 88, of Bunker Hill, passed away at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis on Friday, March 8, 2024. He was born Dec. 20, 1935 in Macoupin County to Andrew James Duty and Lillie Mae (Angelo) Duty. He married Elsie Cathorall on June 8, 1956 at Fosterburg Baptist Church and she preceded him on Feb. 19, 2014.

Lloyd retired from Shell Oil and then worked full time on his farm. Jeff Shupenus was his good friend and partner in the cattle business for many years.

Lloyd is survived by his three children, Don (Connie) Duty Steilacoom, Wash., Sandra (Tim) Carman of Wyaconda, Mo., and David (Sarah) Duty of Bunker Hill; grandchildren, Jim (Rebecca) Duty Oakdale, Calif., Abigail (Duty) and Tsuma Ngala of Chaska Minn., Megan (Carman) and Mike Burns, Ames, Iowa, Brett Carman, Marion, Iowa, Beth (Duty) and Dylan Trimm of Bunker Hill, and Amy (Duty) and Caleb Brace of Ankeny, Iowa; sisters, Nancy Williams, Brighton, Lilly (Ray) James, Brandon, Fla., Nettie Marie Bilbruck, Cambridge; brother, John (Kathy) Duty Louisville, Ky.; ten great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws Helen Manns, Godfrey and Carolyn Golden Cocoa, Fla.; brother-in-laws, Dan and Kay Cathorall of Pitsfield, Ill., and Mike and Jodi Cathorall of Alton,; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Lloyd was preceded in death by his brother, Francis Duty.

Visitation will be on Saturday, March 16 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill. Interment will follow at 11:30 am at Bunker Hill Cemetery in Bunker Hill with Pastor Jeff Warix officiating. A special Memorial Service for friends and family will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Christ Life Church in Bunker Hill. Kravanya Funeral Home of Bunker Hill is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Dallas and Nancy Putnam with Continental Baptist Missions.
