Anschutz

Dean L. Anschutz, 89, of Staunton, passed away at Staunton Health and Rehab Center in Staunton on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. He was born Sept. 30, 1934 in Staunton the son to the late Edward “Butch” Anschutz and Verna Foss. He married Carol Karlovic in Sept. 1954 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton and she survives.

He retired from Illinois Commerce Commission Police in Springfield, Ill. Previously, Dean worked as a Produce Manager for A&P Grocers. He was a former City Alderman, a past President of the Staunton Jaycees, and a past member of the Staunton Country Club. His hobbies included golfing, fishing, hunting, and watching sitcoms on TV.

He is survived by three daughters, Rita (James) Euler, Staunton, K. Renee (Bruce) Goodnick, Sebring, Fla., and Jan (Tim) Fritzsche, Edwardsville; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Goodnick (Alex Hughes), Denver, Colo., Benjamin (Karoline) Goodnick, Lisle, Ill., Christopher (Ashley) Euler, Springfield, Ill., Kevin (Melissa) Euler, Maryville, Alicia Euler, Effingham, and Michael Fritzsche Edwardsville; six great-grandchildren, Olivia Goodnick, Aiden Euler, Grace Goodnick, Henry Euler, Nora Euler, and Noelle Euler; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by five siblings, Loretta “Dolly” Anschutz, Leland Anschutz (Shirley), Norma Luther (John), Velma Kimball (Jim), and Marcella “Marcie” Day (Bill).

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. A private interment will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton. Rev. Thomas Hagstrom will be officiating. Kravanya Funeral Home of Staunton is in charge of the arrangements.
