On Tuesday, Feb. 20, of 2024, Illinois Rural Water Association, the state’s largest rural utility association, selected the City of Staunton as its "Water System of The Year" at the Forty-Second Annual Technical Conference in Effingham, Ill.
The Illinois Rural Water Association’s "Water System of the Year" award is given to a system dedicated to managing their water system to the highest of standards. The winner of this award must meet the strictest industry standards in appearance, record keeping, compliance and consistency of operations.
"This accurately describes the City of Staunton" said Frank Dunmire, Executive Director of the Illinois Rural Water Association. "The City of Staunton has met or exceeded all compliance standards and is managed, maintained and operated to the highest of industry standards."
The Illinois Rural Water Association is a private, not-for-profit association of small water and wastewater systems, and is dedicated to training and technical assistance to those individuals who work in the water and wastewater industry.
