Marilyn L. Huhsman, 89, of Staunton, died at Staunton Health and Rehab Center in Staunton on Feb. 13, 2024. She was born Nov. 2, 1934 in Litchfield the daughter to the late Glen Cox and Olga (Newman) Cox Luenemann. She married James M. Huhsman on May 22, 1954 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton and he preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 2019.
She was an Office Clerk at Fritz's Drug Store in Staunton for several years. Previously, she had worked at Emerson Electric before moving to Colorado Springs, Colo. After moving back to Staunton, she worked at Illinois Power and later was a receptionist at Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton.
She was a longtime member at St. Michael Catholic Church of Staunton and of St. Boniface Catholic Church of Edwardsville. She enjoyed playing golf, watching golf, and "Marilyn's Famous Vodka and water."
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Stephen "Butch" (Kathy) Huhsman, Staunton; several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Tricia and Andrea Huhsman; and brother, Glen "Buzzy" Cox.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton. Memorial Mass will follow at 6 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church and Rev. Thomas Hagstrom will be officiating.
A private interment will be at a later date at Chapman Cemetery near Mt. Olive. Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
