Ronald Edwin Boehme, 89, passed away on Feb. 11, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. Ronald was born on Jan. 27, 1935 in Litchfield to Edwin Boehme and Norma (Niemann) Boehme. He married Gwendolyn Joyce Oelrichs in 1958 at Mt. Olive Zion Church, and she survives.
He attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Mt. Olive until eighth grade. Ronald was a 1953 graduate of Mt. Olive High School. He served in the U.S. Army and he was honorably discharged and was selected as the “Soldier of the Cycle” during his basic training. He was employed by the U.S. Army as a civilian in business management for the Apache and Cheyenne helicopters.
He also served in the National Guard for 9 years. Ronald earned a Master’s Degree from Southern Illinois University of Carbondale where he was a founding member of Delta Chi. Ronald enjoyed bowling and horseshoes. He was a master gardener and an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Illini Fan. Ronald loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son, Craig (Linda) Boehme of Huntsville, Ala.; two daughters, Gretchen (Skyler) Boehme of Lincoln and Alison (Tom) Corak of Hamel; two grandchildren, Jessica and Mathew; four great-grandchildren, Gwen, Julian, Rowan, and Adrian; a brother, Armand (Judy) Boehme of Northfield, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bette Boehme.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive. A service will follow the visitation at 3 p.m. where his brother, Armand Boehme, will officiate. Becker and Son Funeral Home of Mt. Olive is in charge of the arrangements.
