Mary Jean Stolte, 77, of Worden, formerly of Carlinville, passed away at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, Mo. on Feb. 10, 2024. She was born on Feb. 26, 1946 to Ross and Mary (Root) McGee in Edwardsville. Mary married Ray King on March 7, 1964 at the Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Hamel, Ill. They were married 23 years before they divorced, and Mary married Kenneth Otto Stolte, Sr. in Carlinville. He preceded her in death April 16, 2018.
Mary was a cook at the Carlinville West School for many years, and then was a dietary and cook at Lake Williamson Christian Center in Carlinville. Later, she was the manager of a senior group home in Carlinville. She was a member of the Memorial Christian Church and a past member of the Carlinville Elks Lodge 1412 and the Moose Lodge 1216.
She focused her life on raising her children and being involved with her family. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and hatching ducklings out of the incubator.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; step-son, Kenneth Otto Stolte, Jr .; and sister-in-law, Lorna McGee. She is survived by her fiancée, Ray King of Worden, Ill .; four sons, Dennis (Heather) King of Mt. Olive, James King of Charlotte, N.C., Daniel (Tami) King of Litchfield, Richard (Nancy) Blevins of Staunton; three step-daughters, Karen Rives of Carlinville, Susie Stinnett of Carlinville, Vicki Stolte of Carlinville; twin brothers, Gary (Kim) McGee of Caseyville, Ill., and Larry McGee of Alhambra, Ill .; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Feb. 15, 2024, from 10 a.m. to noon at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Gary Farthing officiating. A funeral meal will be served immediately following the funeral at the Memorial Christian Church, 410 E. First North, Carlinville, before proceeding to the cemetery in Irving for interment.
