Dwight Farris, 97, of Bunker Hill, died at Staunton Health and Rehab Center on Feb. 1, 2024. He was born April 25, 1926, in Madison, Ill., the son to the late Henry Martin Farris and Nellie Marie (Griffith) Farris. He married Mary Ruth (Hazelip) Farris on April 29, 1949 and she preceded him in death on June 1, 2017.
Dwight was a veteran of the US Navy after having served during WWII and he was a retired carpenter. He loved gardening, flowers, reading his bible and praying daily. Dwight enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Kay Eastman of Reading, Pa., Bill (Pat) Farris of Bunker Hill, Sue (Ed) Warren of Bunker Hill, Vicky (Perry) Smith of Cypress, Texas, and Jim (Diane) Farris of Bunker Hill; grandchildren, Kevin (Susan) Eastman, Stephen (Laura) Eastman, Bradley (Sara) Eastman, Jamie (John) Listello, Michael (Sarah) Farris, Darin ( Kristen) Warren, Joseph (Wendy) Warren, Lindy Smith, Kyle Smith, Russty (Heidi) Farris, and Shawn (Julie) Farris; sister, Darlene Sewell of Missouri; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Dwight was preceded in death by his grandson, Craig Eastman; great-grandson, Elijah Warren; son-in-law, Danny Eastman; and brother-in-law, Cleo Sewell.
Private services and interment will be held and Kravanya Funeral Home of Bunker Hill was in charge of the arrangements.
