The City of Staunton plans to do major overhaul and upgrades to water mains and Central Cable

The City of Staunton will be undergoing and has already started on numerous projects around town so please be patient during this time period. Provided is a list of what will be going on in Staunton for the next couple of months: There will be a new sewer main extension heading East on Staunton Rd.. There have been some traffic slow downs, but overall, there should not be any street closures;

The Ginseng Creek Box Culvert Project. This one will take several months and major road closures. As of now, Union Street is closed from North Street to Main Street and has been closed for a couple of weeks. Shortly after that, the intersection of Main Street and Laurel Street will be closed for some time due to extensive work being done in those areas;

There will be a water main installation going in on North Easton Street from Main Street to Leonard Street. This will cause some street closures, but only one block at a time. This new 12-inch water main will set the stage for all new water mains from Easton Street to Ash Street and Leonard Street to Main Street, followed by new water mains from Easton Street to Union Street and Leonard Street to Main Street;

On top of all of this, Madison Communications has contracted Central Cable to install Fiber Optic cable all through the south side of town. There will be multiple flags and marking paint in surrounding yards, as well as many trucks and equipment from Central Cable all over town for the next two and a half months.

Use caution and plan routes in advance to and from school, work, or wherever one may be traveling to. Also, please be courteous to those working in the construction areas and above all, stay safe.
