Carter

Mary Lynn Carter, 77, of Benld, died at her residence on Jan. 29, 2024. She was born Dec. 4, 1946 in Carlinville to the late Charles Norbent and Frances (Turigliatto) Norbent. She married William J. Carter Jr. on Feb. 14, 1970 in Carlinville and he preceded her in death.

She retired in 2012 after having worked for UCB for 19 years. Mary had lived in Japan for three years and she loved being from Benld and living through the Italian-American days. She enjoyed cardinal birds, sports and playing cards. Her treasures were her family and being with them.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, John Jack Norbent, Martha Norbent, and Geraldine Wright.

She is survived by her children, children, William J. (Jennifer) Carter Jr. of Benld, Theresa (Donald Montoro) Carter of Wilsonville, and Amy N. Carter of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Owen Michael (Janel Gaither) Carter of Benld, Joseph Carter stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, Jake (Morgan Buckner) Carter of Benld, McKenna Montoro of Wilsonville, Ryan (Deanna Ratcliffe) Montoro of Wilsonville, Casey (spouse, Jerrett) McLean of Franklinton, N.C., and Caitlyn Montoro of Oxford, N.C .; great-grandchildren, Frankie Montoro, Vinnie Montoro, Cadance McLean, Charleigh McLean, niece, and Kellie (spouse, Phil) Vesper of Benld; nephew, Robert Wright of Benld; great-niece, Veronica Vesper; great-nephew, Hunter Vesper; and great-great-niece, Autumn Estelle.

Funeral services were Feb. 3, 2024 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Benld and interment was at Benld Cemetery. Kravanya Funeral Home of Benld is in charge of the arrangements.
