Experienced photographer to showcase at Blackbird Bakery and Cafe on Feb. 10

Join Blackbird Bakery and Cafe at 123 E. Main in Staunton on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 3 to 5 p.m. for the opening reception of the photography of Dennis Garrels.

Garrels has been a photographer for over 40 years, most notably as a travel journalist, documenting many different places, lifestyles, and cultures in all 50 states, Europe, Africa, South and Central America, Mexico, Cuba, and soon in Asia. Garrels says of his work, “I am naturally curious, and that’s what it takes to be a good travel journalist. I enjoy telling visual stories to spark an interest in compelling destinations…and documenting cultures, lifestyles, and places through words and pictures, a born storyteller.”

Aside from travel journalism, Garrels has also covered news, sports, lifestyles, destinations and other subjects as a staff photographer for United Press International and as a contract photographer for Reuters and Sigma assignment agency. Garrels continues to be a contributing photographer nationally and internationally through top platforms such as Getty Images/iStock, Shutterstock, Adobestock, and Alamy.

So join Blackbird on Feb. 10 to check out Garrel’s wonderful photographs taken all across the world. Food, drinks, and good company provided on the house.
