Elmer Leroy Looper, 87, of Bunker Hill, died at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield on Jan. 14, 2024. He was born Oct. 13, 1936 in Jerseyville to Elmer O. Looper and Lucille Waters Brown and they preceded him in death.
He married Mary Ann (Hogle) Looper of Bunker Hill on June 2, 1960 in Cottage Hills, Ill. and she survives.
Elmer was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired after having been an inspector for McDonnell Douglas. He enjoyed being with his family, fishing and camping. He is survived by his children, Patrick (Brenda) Looper of Buckeye, Ariz., Steven (Lisa) Looper of Gillespie, and Timothy Looper of Nashville, Tenn .; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jacob, Brianna, Garet, Dusty, and Robert; and great-grandchildren, Ava, Alanna, Ryker, and Oliver.
Elmer was preceded in death by his grandson, Paul Leroy Looper; brother, Donald Looper; and sister, Carolyn Sue “Kaye” McDonald.
Funeral services were Jan. 18, 2024 at Kravanya Funeral Home of Bunker Hill. Graveside services were Jan. 19, 2024 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo. Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill was in charge of the arrangements.
