Court

Rex J. White, (48), of Granite City, faces 14 counts that all occurred on Jan. 4, 2024: count one is a class one, non-probationable offense of aggravated DUI, in that said defendant operated a a silver, Jeep Wrangler bearing Mo. registration, while under the influence of alcohol. Said defendant has previously been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol on four previous occasions, twice in Montgomery County, once in Madison County, and once in St. Charles, Mo.; counts three, four, and five are Class four felonies, with a minimum of 180-days in jail, being the offenses of aggravated DUI and driving with a suspended or revoked license, knowingly not being covered by liability insurance, and having previously been convicted on three prior occasions for driving while license is suspended or revoked on Oct. 22, 1996, March 31, 2001, and Nov. 29, 2001, all within Montgomery County; Counts five and six are Class four felonies for aggravated fleeing causing property damage in excess to $300 in property value and for aggravated fleeing of an officer of the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department where said driver drove at a rate of speed at least 21 miles per hour over the legal speed limit; count seven is for the offense of battery, in that he knowingly caused placed his arm around the victim’s neck and attempted to choke her; count eight for the offense of attempted criminal damage to property with the damage not being in excess of $500. Said defendant knowingly grabbed an individual’s automotive mirror and attempted to pull off the automobile.

Raymond E. Jones, (56), of Carlinville, committed the Class two felony offense of unlawful failure to register as a sex offender on Jan. 7, 2024. After registering as homeless with the Carlinville Police Department, the defendant knowingly failed to register as a sex offender with any jurisdiction requiring him to register every seven days and not having registered since Oct. of 2023, previously having been convicted of failure to register as a sex offender in Macoupin County on Oct. 31, 2018.

Gary W. Fuller Sr., (52), of Staunton, faces multiple counts that occurred on Jan. 5, 2024. Count one is a Class two felony charge for the failure to report an accident/injury, in that the defendant failed to stop his vehicle at the scene of the vehicle crash that resulted in personal injury to another. The defendant failed to report said crash to the police station near where said crash occurred within the required time. Counts two and three are Class three felonies for aggravated battery with the use of a deadly weapon and aggravated battery with great bodily harm, in that said defendant used a 2014 Toyota motor vehicle to commit a battery by striking the above victim with said motor vehicle, causing great bodily harm. Counts four and five are Class four felonies of accidental injury/death and aggravated reckless driving with bodily harm, in that the defendant accelerated said vehicle into the body of said victim causing great bodily harm, left the scene of said crash and failed to return to said crash.

Matthew C. Tibbs, (31), of Virden, committed the Class three felony offense of possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine or a substance containing methamphetamine on Oct. 29, 2023.

Patrick M. Motley, (34), of Taylorville, committed the Class three felony offense of theft with unauthorized control over Milwaukee brand tools and a coil of Cerro Wire copper wiring, having a value of more than $500 but less than $10,000 on Dec. 8, 2023.

Hugh E. Kearse, (42), of Waverly, committed the Class three felony offense of possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine or a substance containing methamphetamine on June 20, 2023.

Earl t. Schofield, (36), of Bluffs, Ill., committed the Class three felony offense of possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine or a substance containing methamphetamine on Nov. 7, 2023.

Austin J. Fanning, (30), of Girard, committed two counts of Class three felonies that both occurred on Jan. 9, 2024, being the offenses of the escape and violation of an electric monitoring detention program and for knowingly possessing less than five grams of methamphetamine or a substance containing methamphetamine. Said defendant, a person charged with a felony and conditionally released from the supervising authority through an electronic home monitoring detention program, in that he cut his electronic monitoring device off.

Stephanie F. Hilliard, (50), of Saint Charles, Mo., committed the Class four felony offense on Jan. 9, 2024. The defendant called the superintendent’s office of Staunton’s School and threatened the school of violence, death, or bodily harm directed at persons at the school.

Edward D. Askew, (71), of Keyesport, Ill., committed the offense of violating an order of protection on Dec. 23, 2024. After having been served with notice of said order of protection in Macoupin County, said defendant made contact with the protected party, via text message.

Timothy J. Chesus, (48), of Gillespie, committed the offense of violating an order of protection on Jan. 5, 2024. After having been served with an emergency order of protection in Macoupin County, said defendant was at the protected address located in Gillespie.

Jennifer M. Conover, (47), of Girard, committed the offense of retail theft having a total value not in excess of $300 on May 9, 2023. Said defendant knowingly took possession of tequila offered for sale in a County Market located in Girard.

Brayden M. Hydron, (26), of Livingston, committed the offense of criminal damage to property with damage not being in excess of $500 on Dec. 12, 2023. Said defendant knowingly damaged the property of another, being a Nest brand doorbell camera in that he pulled the doorbell camera down and threw it to the ground.

On Jan. 9, 2024, Hydron committed three counts: Count one is for the offense of aggravated assault and use of deadly weapon, in that said defendant pointed a meat cleaver at another individual; count two is for the offense of carrying/possessing a knife with intent, in that said defendant knowingly possessed a meat cleaver with the intent to use it unlawfully against another; count three is for the offense of criminal trespass to a building, in that said defendant knowingly and without lawful authority entered into a building known as Rainbow Laundry, in Staunton.

Robert J. Zumwalt, (42), of Livingston, committed two counts for offenses that occurred on Oct. 23, 2023; count one is for knowingly exerting unauthorized control of a Samsung S21 Ultra cellphone belonging to another, and did so with the intent to permanently deprive the individual of said property; count two is for the offense of battery, in that said defendant knowingly caused bodily harm to the above victim by striking said victim in the face with an open hand.

Caleb J. Wright, (19), of Springfield, committed the offense of criminal trespass to land, in that on Nov. 6, 2023, said defendant entered upon the land of another in Girard after having received prior notice from law enforcement that such entry was forbidden.

Logan J. Redmon, (26), of Gillespie, committed the offense of retail theft between Oct. 2, 2023 and Oct. 26, 2023, in that he knowingly took possession of food, alcohol, and tobacco products having a total value not in excess of $300 from Moto Mart in Gillespie.

DUI

Rex J. White, (48), of Granite City, committed six traffic citations that occurred on Jan. 4, 2024: Count nine was for two counts of driving under the influence with alcohol and for having a BAC of .08 or more; count ten is for driving while license is suspended or revoked; count 11 is for operating an uninsured vehicle; count 12 is for the illegal transportation of alcohol; count 13 is for leaving the scene of a accident that caused damage to a vehicle; and count 14 is for improper lane usage.

Ronald M. Burns, (35), of Gillespie, was cited for driving a purple 2000 Harley Motorcycle while under the influence on Dec. 31, 2023 at 1:24 a.m.
