Edward Lee Gorin, Sr., 79, of Piasa, passed away on Jan. 9, 2024, at OSF St. Anthony Health Center in Alton. He was born on Nov. 15, 1944 in Alton the son of the late Harry Gorin and Vivian (Hampton) Gorin. Ed married Alice Little on Feb. 18, 1963 in Rosewood Heights, Ill. and she survives.
He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force and Ed retired from GM in 1999. He was also known as the Rock N’ Roll Kid from Ed and Alice’s Rock N’ Roll Show from 1975 to 1985. Ed traveled to local nursing homes and veterans hospitals to entertain the residents with his beautiful voice and guitar, along with his wife, Alice, and son, Eddie, for 17 years together.
Ed was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Gary Gorin. He is survived by two children, Julie (Rick) Campbell of Brighton and Edward Lee Gorin Jr. of Piasa; five grandchildren, Lance (Kristen) Gorin, Tyler (Danielle) Gorin, Amber (Matt) Wense, Steven (Jennifer) Campbell, and Brian Campbell; seven great-grandchildren, Gavin, Alex, Ari, Maverick, Scarlett, Audrina, Jack, and an eighth due in April; one brother, James (Elizabeth) Gorin.
Visitation was held until the time of the funeral service at noon on Jan. 15, 2024, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton. A private family burial will be held at Piasa Cemetery at a later date.
