Edward L. “Mr. Ed” Dean, 69, of Mount Olive, passed away on Jan. 8, 2024 at the Staunton Health and Rehab Center in Staunton. He was born March 5, 1954, in Amboy, Ill. a son of the late Leonard Dean and Juanita (Reiners) Dean. He married Patricia G. (York) Dean on Jan. 9, 1993, in Gillespie and she survives.
Ed was an over the road truck driver with many years as an owner and operator prior to his retirement. He was a member of Lead Church in Collinsville and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends. He had a special love for his days of crappie fishing, hunting, camping and gardening and took much pride in teaching his grandkids all aspects of his love for the outdoors. In addition to his father, Leonard Dean, he was preceded in death by his stepmom, Joanne Dean.
He is survived by his mother, Juanita Dean; son, Shawn Dean of Poplar Bluff, Mo .; daughter-in-law, Tiffany Dean of Poplar Bluff, Mo .; daughter, Jaime Saputo of St. Louis, Mo .; son-in-law, Joe Saputo, Mo .; son, Chris Morgan of Jerseyville; son, Robert “Robbie” Dean of Poplar Bluff, Mo .; daughter-in-law, Samantha Dean of Poplar Bluff, Mo; eleven grandchildren, Petty Officer Second Class James Morgan, Terah Morgan, Brianna Morgan, Todd Morgan, Zachary Dean, Derek Morgan, Lucas Dean, Mia Saputo, Hunter Cannady, Brady Morgan, and Hoyt Powell; four great-grandchildren, Ben Stulce, Jasper Stulce, Remington Stulce, and Brynleigh Arthur; sister, Anna Altman of Colorado; many nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.
A celebration of life and visitation was at Irwin Chapel in Granite City on Jan. 13, 2024 and Pastor Brian Harris officiated.
