Three representatives of the Illinois Main Street Program visited Staunton to follow up Staunton’s application to become a part of the Illinois Main Street Program. The representatives were impressed with Staunton’s business district.

Citizen’s Central Bancorp, Inc. announced that Citizens National Bank of Macomb would purchase the Mercantile Bank branch in Staunton.

A son was born to Bart and Jerilyn (Poole) Hassard of Staunton on Dec. 16 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.

Marvin R. Klotz (58) of Edwardsville died Jan. 4 at his residence.

Clifford R. Purslow formerly of Staunton died Jan. 6 at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio.

Earl A. Bradley (79) of Pittsburgh, Pa., died Jan. 8 at his home.

Luella T. Johnson (81) of Bunker Hill died Jan. 5 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Council members heard considerations for use of the Citizen’s building.

Beth Atwood of Livingston won $4,000 payable toward her mortgage in a St. Louis Blues promotion called the Fan Bailout Plan.

A daughter was born to Buddy and Danelle (Schneider) Bartels.
