Charles William Vaughn, 82, of Wood River, formerly of Royal Lakes, died at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton on Jan. 5, 2024. He was born Nov. 18, 1941, in Bunker Hill to the late Charles James Vaughn and Delphia Marie (Mangels) Vaughn. He married Phyllis Darlene (Tucker) Vaughn on Sept. 9, 1975 in Bunker Hill and she preceded him in death on Sept. 4 in 2021.
He was retired after having been a draftsman for Hurst Rosche Engineers.
Charles was a veteran of the US Army after having served during Vietnam. He was a member of the Cornerstone Church of Bethalto and Piasa Black Powder Burners. He enjoyed knife collecting and fishing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Linda Marie (Tim) VanArsdale of Patricksburg, Ind., Charla Mae (Micky) Flanigan of Lake Saint Louis, Mo., and Amanda Lael Vaughn of Wood River; grandchildren, Ashley (Will) Parmenter of Indianapolis, Ind., Sierra Hope VanArsdale of Patricksburg, Ind., Darcie Flanigan of Lake Saint Louis, Mo., and Braden Flanigan of Lake Saint Louis, Mo .; great-grandchildren, Jaxson VanArsdale, Matthew VanArsdale, and David VanArsdale; siblings, Jimmy (Joan) Vaughn and Vicky Anderson.
Friends may call on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024 at Cornerstone Church in Bethalto from 10 a.m. until 11a.m. and memorial services will follow at Cornerstone Church in Bethalto at 11 am. Kravanya Funeral Home located in Bunker Hill is in charge of the arrangements.
