Bernadine Mary Kline Sandrin Buffington,97, passed away at the stroke of midnight on Jan. 4. The church bells rang alerting heaven to Bernadine's arrival.
She lived a blessed, loving and full life. Bernadine was born in New Douglas to Benjamin and Christina Kline. She joined two siblings, Clifford Kline and Irene Kline Healey. In 1945 she married Elmer Sandrin and he preceded her in death in 1991. They had three children, Christine Antoinette Sandrin Petit preceded her death in 2019, Connie Irene Sandrin Isenburg, preceded her in death in 2017, and Colleen Louise Sandrin. In 1994 she married Norrigan Buffington. and he preceded her in death in 2003.
Bernadine worked for the FBI from 1943 to 1945. She was very active in her children’s lives, serving as secretary of the PTA and involved in Brownies and Girl Scouts throughout the 50’s in Livingston. She worked for H&R Block in Boulder, Colo. for 18 years.
Bernadine lived in the same house in Boulder for 53 years. In Boulder, she was very active in the Presbyterian Church, especially with the Sewing Circle and Mariners. Because of a fall in 2016, she started living in Denver with her daughter Colleen and her husband Tom Merline who had moved from California to Colorado in 2009 to be closer to her. They all returned to Calif., in 2018, making her a California resident until her death.
She is survived by her daughter, Colleen (Tom); granddaughters, Antonia and Elizabeth; grandchildren, Ayden, Ella and Samuel; step-children, Earl Buffington (Karen), Glenn Buffington (Debbie), Mark Buffington (Valerie), and Lana Buffington Hebenstreit; and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was so loved and will be so missed. Services will be held at Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston on Saturday, Jan. 13. Viewing will be at 1 p.m. with the service beginning at 2 p.m. and burial and prayers at Spangle Cemetery following the service.
