Eugene E. Thomae, 96, of Shipman, passed away at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehab on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023. Eugene was born in Bunker Hill on Nov. 18, 1927 the son to Joe and Edith (Moulton) Thomae and both preceded him in death.
He married his wife, Mary Lou Allen on Jan. 15, 1956 in Shipman and she preceded him in death on Nov. 8, 2013.
He was a graduate of Carlinville High School and served our country in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers during the Korean War. He farmed for over 20 years and worked at Olin Corporation as a draftsman and engineer for 25 years. Eugene was also a member of Shipman Lodge No. 212 and the Methodist Church in Shipman.
Eugene is survived by four children, Lynn Thomae of Shipman, Mark (Deb) Thomae of Shipman, Brent Thomae of Broken Arrow, Okla., Gary (Deanna) Thomae of Shipman; nine grandchildren, Pete (Krystal) Thomae of Shipman, Zach (Ashley) Thomae of Edwardsville, Nick (Kaylee) Thomae of Brighton, Jaeme Thomae of Glendale, Calif., Isaac of Shipman, Lauren of Shipman, Julia of Shipman, Bella of Shipman, and Seth Thomae of Shipman; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 22 at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton. Interment will follow at Bunker Hill Cemetery. Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton is in charge of the arrangements.
