Lubrant

Edward Joseph Lubrant, 82, of Gillespie, Ill., died at his residence in Gillespie on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023. He was born Sept. 26, 1941 the son to Edward J. Lubrant and Susan Rose (Dorko) Lubrant. He married his spouse, Brenda Kay (Ferguson) Lubrant of Gillespie, on March 22, 1975 in Gillespie and he is survived by his wife. Ed was a former Wilsonville resident. He was a retired coal miner for Monterey Coal Co., a sales representative for All-American T-Shirt Co., and he formerly worked for Owens Illinois Glass Co. Throughout his life, Edward was a member of the United Mine Workers Local 1613 where he also served as financial secretary; he was a member of the Holy Cross Cemetery Board; and a member of the Illinois Valley Board for 25 years. He was an avid sports fan that loved sports statistics and he loved the St. Louis Cardinals. Ed never knew a stranger and he enjoyed drinking coffee with his buddies. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Edward J. and Susan Rose Lubrant; daughter, Kimberly Lubrant Bultema, and brother-in-law, Larry Ferrari. He is survived by his children, Greg Lubrant of Springfield, Brad (Crystal) Lubrant of Naperville, Kendra (Mark) Liedtke of Castle Rock, Col, Jason Lubrant of Gillespie; grandchildren, Jonathon Lubrant, Jacob Lubrant, Sydney Liedtke, Marshall Liedtke, Derek Bultema, Broc Bultema; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Tony (Vicki) Lubrant of Gillespie, Karen (George) Firth of Benld, and Sharon Ferrari of Gillespie. Funeral Mass was held on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023 at SS Simon and Jude Church in Gillespie. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery located in Gillespie.
