Rev. Dr. John David Dawson, 78, of Woodburn, Ill., died at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023. He was born July 2, 1945, in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada to Fred Dawson and Marion (Shaw) and they preceded John in death.

He married Ellen Irene (Lawton) Dawson in Nov. 1965 in Sault Ste Marie, Mich. They were married by Ellen’s father, Rev. Clarence A. Lawton.

He was a Baptist Minister for 35 years. John was Pastor for the Calvary Baptist Church located in Woodburn. John was Chaplin for area volunteer fire departments and he was also a member of the North West Tu...
