Staunton Helping Hands Nov. recap

Nov. was a huge month at the Helping Hands Center. Many donations were received and plenty of food was given out to local families in need.

For the Thanksgiving holiday, 73 turkeys (with lots of side items) were given to Staunton residents. Special thanks to all of the donors that helped to sponsor families for Thanksgiving and make this possible. The SHHC worked closely with Bill's IGA to purchase the turkeys and get them in perfect time for Thanksgiving. Also in time for the holiday, the Annual Scouting For Food Drive through the local scouts was received.

Approximately 6,850 food items were collected in this year's drive (led by Boy Scout Troop 8034 and assisted by the local Cub Scouts). Thank you to those who placed bags out for the scouts to pick up, sort and bring to the SHHC.

There were also many volunteers at the pantry to help sort and stock the items. In addition to typical SHHC volunteers, the Prairie Youth 4-H group led by Osie Steiner, were present to volunteer for this large event.

Nov. donations from individuals: Rich Fiori; Wanda Watson; Susan Miller; Kathleen Benda; Merry Callovini (posthumously); Robert and Gloria Dvorak; Lynn Neuhaus; Robert and Carol Lietz; Scott and Deborah Becker.
