Published in the Interest of the Staunton Community for Over 143 Years
The Staunton Star-Times has been the newspaper of Staunton since 1878. The Star-Times has been acclimating and operating with new, fresh faces in the building:
Debbie Hoog works the front desk and keeps track of our booking and finance here at the Star-Times. She is a well-known, long-time local who really helps us maintain the urgency of focusing on Staunton as a whole. She has worked for the publication part-time for around two years now. The rest of the staff has been here less than six months each, so Debbie's knowledge is invaluable.
Barbara McDonald is our Advertisements Saleswoman. If given the opportunity to talk to Barb, she's an extremely accomplished businesswoman with a geunine and loving soul. Everyone wants a Barb on their team and in their life, thankfully I've got both.
Josh Green is the Star-Time's newest part-time employee on the staff in terms of time spent here. He is the office assisstant and assistant to the Editor. He's very polite and reserved which balances wonderfully with the chaos of the paper on a day-to-day basis. He's thorough and Josh lives for customer and/or reader, subscriber satisfaction.
Then there's me. I am Austin Grabow and have been the voice and tone, words, and creator of the Star-Times newspaper for around half of a year now. I serve as the Editor, Manager and Publisher for the Star-Times. I am young in my years, but sensible and respectful in my actions and words. Growing up with family being the top priority, and still is for me, I take a similar approach in how we operate as a newspaper.
As a close-knit staff, we aim to make everyone feel like they are family too. We report community and county news. Neither of which is possible without all of the readers, subscribers, and news-bearers/providers. When we open up for walk-in-and-through tours on Friday, Dec. 1, there will be cookies and apple cider provided free of charge and to any and all ages while supplies last.
On Friday, Dec. 1, our doors will be open not only during regular Friday business hours being 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., but they will remain open to the public until 8 p.m., which is when the Holiday Walk will be wrapping up as well. The old, original printing press equipment and tables are still here in our building. Come enjoy some snacks, fall festive beverages, and good company with and at your local newspaper, The Staunton Star-Times
