The ISP is investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened early Sunday evening on Nov. 19.
According to a statement from the ISP, they were called to the parking lot of the Carlinville Area Hospital at around 6:15 p.m. to assist in the investigation after a Carlinville Police Officer shot a suspect allegedly driving a stolen vehicle.
While intiating contact, the suspect is said to have pointed a gun at the officer.
The Carlinville officer fired his gun, striking the suspect. The suspect was flown to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries. The officer was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing and no other information has been released.
