Cabaness

Michael James Cabaness, 56, of Mineral, Ill., a former area resident, died on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City. He was born July 3, 1967, in Highland, the son of the late Paul Joseph and Betty (Wolf) Cabaness. He was married to Kristi Stanley. They are now divorced.

He graduated from Livingston High School in Livingston. Michael was an avid drummer and loved music. He was the drummer for Don Sims's band for many years. He was employed as a truck driver for Don Hendon at Page Transportation.

He is survived by four sisters, Laura Cabaness Johnson (Ray Beebe), Marilyn (Greg) Herbeck, Brenda (Rick) Odorizzi, Michele (Robert) VanDeHey; nieces and nephews, Paul Johnson, Deanna (Davey) Holmes, Kimberley (Robert) Steward, Miki Davidson, Christopher (Cindy) Cabaness, Allie (Andrew) Brown, Ashley (Josh) Odorizzi, Melissa (Mark) Revisky, Rikki (Justin) Fank, Nicole Odorizzi, Kenneth (Krystal) VanDeHey, Nicholas (Bailee) VanDeHey; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Cabaness; his grandparents, Paul and Margaret (Sansone) Cabaness, Rose (Paoletti) Trettenero, and Eldred Wolf; nephew, Timothy VanDeHey; and great-nephew, Brett Holmes.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the family.
