From time to time, guest writers will be invited to review books of interest to the patrons. This month, the book The Dastardly Book for Dogs, by Rex and Sparky, HarperCollins Publishers, is being reviewed by Cinnabar, a Welsh corgi from Marlboro, Vermont.
It’s hard to know where to begin when discussing such a charming book. Although written primarily by dogs for other dogs, it can be appreciated by human companions of dogs as well. Anything that someone needs to know about dogs is in this book, from what they will try to eat (pretty much anything, dependent of course on age, breed, and hunger level) to what they will bark at (pretty much anything and anybody). It also gives sage advice for dogs on how to deal with cats. The authors conclude that, since no one really understands cats, it is best to leave them alone and avoid being “popped one right on the nose.” They also explore some mysteries of human behavior, such as why humans prohibit any leaving of poo in the house, but collect it in bags when it is left outside. The Dastardly Book for Dogs is highly recommended with five out of five tail wags.
